Love this app. Some ? are hard. Brings back memories. Downloading all the old NES games on my Wii now.
Apparently, The Matrix came out for NES according to this game. The premise is there, but when you charge money and deliver an app that is nearly dead silent with such little variety, I cant recommend it. Spruce it up a bit, ditch the Comic Sans and itll be a winner.
App is pretty fun but some questions like what character sacrificed himself for x at the beginning opening for mega man x? Choices vile, zero, axle, dr.light. Any answer that comes close is zero when he overloads his z buster to destroy viles ride armor 1st sigma fortress level not vile..... Vile is trying to kill X not save him
The pictures used in the game are hand drawn from what appears to be a small child. The trivia is repeated frequently. I was disappointed.
Cool at first, questions tend to repeat. Ive also found a couple questions that were either wrong or had two correct answers. For example : new character as of MK3...lists off both Cyrax and Motaro for multiple choice with only one of them considered correct. Needs more pictures for the questions. Overall worth the .99 though.
Well, I just downloaded this about an hour ago, and while I had quite a bit of fun remembering (along with a little bit of guessing) the answers, there is definitely a significant amount of room for improvement. However, seeing as the app was released in July 2011, Im going to assume that there wont be an update to this app anytime soon, if ever. PLEASE NOTE: I played the SNES trivia for about 30-40 minutes, and the NES trivia for about 10 minutes, so my review will be based on those specifically. ***THE GOOD*** - For the *most* part, the creator did their homework, as there is a pretty solid amount of trivia questions. - I really enjoyed how there was also a nice variety of the actual types of questions, including quizzes (of course,) identifying the image, and identifying the sound file. - If you enjoy RPGs, "Nintendo classics," and fighting games, youll be right at home with the SNES quiz. To be honest, theres really nothing else to add here, which isnt to say theres nothing else good about the app- its trivia, so "it is what it is." ^ ^ ***THE BAD*** Unfortunately, there are plenty of complaints I came across during my time with the app that will probably dissuade me from returning to it, unless I just get curious about what other questions there may be. - Questions are repeated OFTEN. How often? Well, I had a repeat on my SECOND TIME choosing the SNES quiz, and Im pretty sure on every single time after that. Very disappointing. To add to that, because there werent barely any "similarly worded questions" or "same answers, different image/song questions," when you saw the list of answers appear, youre able to click on the correct answer without reading the full question or viewing the media file. It wouldve been really cool if the app creator wouldve included a "full quiz" or an "endless quiz" for each console, so that you could see every single question without duplicates (or at least no duplicates until after youve seen each one once.) While this would significantly reduce the amount of time a user spends with the app overall, the trade-off is that a user such as myself wont end up seeing all of the questions, because with the vast majority now being duplicates, Ive already moved on to another app. - Questions seem to be focused on what I am guessing is the creators personal gaming preferences. While I did list this as a positive since it seems their taste in games is so identical to my own its borderline-scary, Im looking at the big picture and the other people who will try this app. The SNES quiz focused almost solely on RPGs, fighters, and games developed by Nintendo, with very-little-to-no variety outside of that. Again, since that just happens to be EXACTLY the kind of stuff I would want personally, it was incredibly entertaining, but people who mostly played platformers, sports games, action/adventure games, etc. might possibly be disappointed and/or lost. - NOT ALL OF THE ANSWERS LISTED WERE CORRECT. I put this in all caps because its such a significant detractor. I mean, this is all trivia is, so if they answers arent correct, then its no longer trivia! The cause of the incorrect answers include what Im assuming is a lack of (or just incorrect) knowledge, multiple correct answers listed, answers that are only correct under certain circumstances, and poorly-worded, misleading questions that only make sense once you see what the correct answer is. ***HOWEVER, before you swear off this app because of the above, please understand that this is DEFINITELY the minority of the questions- Im just making sure to be thorough and honest with my review.*** ***THE VERDICT*** If you enjoyed the classics, fighters, and RPGs of the "golden age of gaming," then I think you should definitely give this app a shot. While it may get tiresome and frustrating to keep answering the same questions over and over while hoping for some new ones, it was definitely fun while it lasted. However, if those kinds of games (specifically RPGs) arent really your thing, be prepared to do a lot of guessing on your way through the list. Thanks for reading, and hope you all find this useful!
